Indian Ocean Garbage Patch

The crew has partnered with Plymouth Marine Laboratory and the University of Western Australia to gather research data during the crossing by collecting water samples and taking photos. Sadly the crew encountered some of the Indian Ocean Garbage Patch today. 90% of this rubbish is plastic. What a depressing sight. What are we doing to this planet?
